Start a New Meeting
So you’re thinking of starting a brand new meeting? Wonderful! We’re so glad you’re interested in affiliating your meeting with OA Foot Steps. Visit here to read about all that Foot Steps Intergroup offers. If your meeting already exists in a different intergroup, see the bottom of this page.
- A minimum of two people need to commit to attend meeting for some period of time (suggested 3 months). More people are recommended in case one of the two cannot make it. This ensures that someone will always be there at the meeting time.
- Being a member of the Foot Steps Intergroup also involves complying with some policies:
- Can you commit to having at least two group members trained in Zoom security?
- Can you agree to the terms of sharing literature electronically?
- Can you commit to following the OA Traditions and Concepts of Service?
- Can you respect the OA Unity with Diversity Policy Statements?
- Hold a group conscience meeting to
- Appoint Service Positions
- Select an Intergroup Representative and have them attend the monthly Intergroup Business Meetings.
- Select a template. (Be sure to use only Conference Approved or Board Approved Literature!)
- Review Foot Steps Best Practices to learn from other successful meetings.
- Review the Meeting Support page for more resources.
- Schedule regular group conscience meetings to review meeting health, ensure rotation of service, and update the group on Foot Steps Intergroup activities. The strong meeting checklist is a great resource.
- Please complete the Add a Recurring Meeting form. This includes information on how to find an available time slot on our schedule. The Meeting Support Committee can take it from there! It may take 3 to 5 days to respond to your request, and it may take longer to set up the meeting, so plan ahead.
We so appreciate your energy and drive to begin a new meeting – this is how we truly spread the message to those who still suffer from our shared disease. If you have questions, just contact meetings@oafootsteps.com
If you already have a meeting on an existing meeting on a different platform and want to join the Foot Steps Intergroup, visit here to read about all that Foot Steps Intergroup offers. To proceed, fill out an Add a Recurring Meeting form. Be sure to note your OA registration number on the form.
